
The award-winning Comic Art Festival, Thought Bubble, will kick off its 2019 with a week-long celebration of all thing’s comic art across Yorkshire. Starting on Monday 4th, the festival will culminate with a huge Comic con on the Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th at the Harrogate Convention Centre.
Thirteen years after the first festival was held in the surroundings of the Leeds Town Hall basement, Thought Bubble has now expanded from a Leeds based festival to one that celebrates all of Yorkshire with their move to our town of Harrogate!
What to expect from the Comic Art Festival
Alongside the huge programme of events, Thought Bubble has attracted the biggest names and brands in comics, animation, gaming, cartoons and films including Marvel, DC, Black Horse, Image, The Walking Dead, Rick & Morty, Judge Dredd, Hilda, Star Wars, Hellboy and many more, as well as creators from TV/streaming giants like Nickelodeon and Netflix – it’s sure to be one hell of a Festival!
Some of Thought Bubble’s 2019 guests include Invader Zim creator Jhonen Vasquez, Eisner award winner Brian Azzarello (Joker, Wonder Woman, Hellblazer) and California based illustrator Gemma Correll (New York Times, The Observer). Event highlights include:
- A special screening of Shaun of the Dead in conjunction with Vice Press
- Superhero Biscuit Decorating with Bake Off’s Kim-Joy
- Hilda in Harrogate – An amazing exhibit by Flying Eye at Mercer Gallery Harrogate
- A mid-con party hosted by comiXology
- The Walking Dead immersive experience
- Panels including ‘The Science of Marvel’, ‘Hip Hop Comics Connection’, ‘Life Isn’t Binary’, ‘The Importance of Being Tank Girl’ and many more.
The Kids Zone at Comic Con
There’s fun for all the family with badge making, paper mask making, story writing workshops, animation workshops, Duplo free-play and much more for little kids and big kids alike!
Its really exciting to see Harrogate Convention Centre attract new and different events to our town. Let’s go out there an support this industry as events is something this town has relied upon for many years.
