Castle Howard North Yorkshire

As the nation wakes up after a month-long lockdown we know there’s still a long way to go before we can see our loved ones this Christmas but what is there to do in our family bubbles? Well here’s some inspiration to get you in the festive mood…

Christmas at Castle Howard’s winter wonderland

Marvel at the 30-foot outdoor Christmas tree and enchanting sparkling tree-lined drive as Castle Howard is open for family fun and late night shopping until 7pm. On weekends, there’s even Wood Fired Pizza, Hot Dogs, Hot Chocolate, Mulled Wine, and Marshmallow Toasting to keep jack frost from nipping at your nose.

Glow at the RHS – if you can!

Walk the illuminated trail around magnificent trees and shrubs and see some of Harlow Carr’s iconic features, including the Queen Mother’s Lake, Winter Walk, and Kitchen Garden, glow with festive colour.

Tickets are sold out but if you keep your eye on the website some do occasionally become available.

A jolly time at Harewood

Harewood’s grounds, gardens and adventure playground are open for all members and visitors to enjoy. Plus Father Christmas will return to welcome families for exclusive out-of-hours access to the house, to ensure a safe environment can be provided with all the necessary precautions in place, whilst still creating a magical experience. Likewise, a tailor made programme of festive workshops are back, as well as festive afternoon teas, artisan and local maker shopping weekends – and a new opportunity to visit after dark in Harewood Lates.

General admission tickets must be booked online in advance. Tickets to Harewood’s festive season are on sale now (Adults £17.50, Children £9, Family (2+2) £46 with online and early bird discounts extended to 15 November), with pre-booking essential and current restrictions necessitating visitors booking a time slot to enter the House. Visit www.harewood.org for more information and up to date booking terms.

Please be sensible. This is a tier 3 area.

Teepee adventure at the Majestic Hotel

Indulge in a Winter Cocktails, Mulled Wine, or even a Boozy Hot Chocolates at the Majestic Winter Teepee. Again, tables are booking up so be quick! I can highly recommend the Bratwurst with a side of grilled corn, oh and don’t get me started on the gin cocktail!
