My life isn’t boring – fact! I’m constantly on the go but it’s really important to me to be happy and healthy. My personal trainer, Graham always says there are four Dr’s in your life. Dr. Move, Dr. Eat, Dr. Sleep and Dr. Quiet. If you have all of these then you will lead a happy and healthy life. This has made me conscious about what I eat. OK so you’ve all gathered by now that I like my food… scrolling down my blog for five minutes will show you that, but what I don’t’ like is the processed rubbish which is hard to avoid at lunch time.
However, I found a great little place called Fodder on the Hoof. Parked outside Fodder’s farm shop and café is this rather funky looking airstream caravan. This is Fodder’s alternative take-away fast food van.
Headed up by lovely Michael, who served me, the van serves an array of fast food perfect for those quite lunchtime pickups. The best thing about this place is I know its good quality food, using the same local and fresh ingredients as the main café.
I opted for a BLT wrap but you could choose from Falafa, hummus and roasted veg wrap to a naked burger. I also had a Mocha which the total price came to £7.25.
Just outside of the van are two big barrels with sun umbrellas. On top of the barrels were lots of condiments, knives, folks spoons etc. Grabbing myself a few items I’d normally I’d get back in my car and head straight back to work but today I was on a day off and only had a few blogger appointments late afternoon. So I decided to sit awhile at one of the four picnic benches overlooking the grassy fields and beyond.
Unwrapping my BLT, kept warm with the silver foil, it felt like I had half a pig in my wrap – they’re not shy on portion sizes. The bacon was proper butcher’s bacon, thick and full of flavour. The lettuce and tomato was smothered in thick mayonnaise – it was finger licking good!
I’d certainly recommend a cheeky lunch break at Fodder on the Hoof. It’s a great place to be.
